ROM provides weekly or monthly school book clubs between 1:30 – 5:30 p.m., a vulnerable time for students, especially those living in areas that are less safe.
We work with grades 6-12. Depending on the school and age of the students, ROM’s weekly clubs are typically one hour and monthly club meetings last an hour and a half. Snacks and drinks are provided by ROM.
ROM chooses the first title based on research and collaborative meetings with school coordinators, administrators and teachers. Book choices are usually award-winning or current popular titles and age-appropriate with regard to content and language. Subsequent choices are made with input from students.
We also offer additional programming including creative writing, poetry, girls mentor clubs, historical fiction and entrepreneurial clubs. We can arrange for expanded experiential programming such as field trips to hear authors speak or other custom projects.
